If you are here doing research on Quaker Parrots because you are thinking of adding one to the family you are off to a great start. Quaker Parrots will become part of the family with their life spans reaching 30 years. Plus they will actually think they are one of the family. Definately buy some reference books before the Quaker so you know what to expect and how to prepare for the new member of the household. The African Grey Congo can even live alot longer the one is these pictures was hatched in 1996 with many years to go.

Open Question: Transporting untame Scarlet Macaw?
My father is helping transport some animals from a hoarding situation tomorrow. He just found out there is an untame scared Scarlet Macaw. The person has informed him that the only form of transporting they have is a soft sided dog crate. It is a short 30 minute drive but is it safe to have this bird in a soft sided crate? He is mainly afraid it will somehow chew its way out during the drive and cause an accident.

Open Question: We found an egg in the park, and would like to know if it's al...
Me and my two friends found an egg in the park. It was cold and we're not sure if it is alive or not. Is there any chance that the egg is alive, and if so, how can we keep it this way. My parents would be fine with helping raise it, but will only buy an incubator if we know it's alive.

Open Question: Am I really a bad bird owner? In the past 3 weeks 3 of my para...
Ok so approx 3-4 days ago 2 of my parakeets died and last night I found another one dead at the bottom of the cage. Before she died I saw her eating. So she ate and then somewhere during the evening she just dropped dead. I really don't think I'm doing anything wrong. The birds are not kept in the kitchen, their cage is not near anything harmful for them. The only other animal that I have is my 5 year old rabbit and she's nowhere near the cage, plus when I did let them out of the cage the doors to my room were closed so they did not fly anywhere . There are no plants in my room, no air fresheners( those that you plug into the wall ), scented candles nothing. The only thing that is in the entire apartment is the cigarette smoke cause both of my parents smoke , but I can't do anything about it. They don't smoke in my room. Another thing is that there is cold air coming through the windows, so at night it can be kinda chilly. I'm kinda pissed off at myself in a way ,because I recently spent approx.200$ to buy a nice large cage for them so they will have plenty of room, but if they will just keep on dying when what's the point. I actually wanted to buy a larger bird like an Indian Ringneck or a Cocaktiel ,but now I'm having seconds thoughts cause if the same thing would happen to them, it will just be money going down the drain.
Open Question: My Budgie Is Avoiding Me?
I got a Budgie a few weeks ago. He is 2 months old and he always fly's away from me when I go near him! When I first got him he let me stoke him and hand feed him for a little bit, but now he whenever I go near him he always backs up a bit and if there is no space behind him, he will fly around his cage! I do let him out so he can fly around the house for a bit, but even when I try to put my hand out next to him then, he still will fly to the next place that he can land. Ive tried to leave him alone, and just change his food for a day, but even that doesn't work! Please help! Thanks
